FASSJ supports local projects and also in the Philippines and is proactive in many community concerns.
This yearly tradition was started by FAASJ a long time ago to honor and celebrate the beauty y of our Filipina women by choosing young achievers to fill the role.
Last year’s Miss Valentine’s was Miss Lana Holgado, granddaughter of Virgie and Zosimo Luz.
In 2008, FASS began the inclusion of the LOVE AWARD in their annual celebration. The Love Award carries one criteria only: dedicated and selfless community service. The award is given regardless of educational, professional and personal attainment, political or civic affiliation, religion and status in life.
This year’s Love Awardee are Raymond “Boots” and Nora Benitez, example of what community and family leadership is. The couple served as past presidents of FAASJ and are very active in our community concenrs. Nora is involved in nurses issues and Boots is active with the Rizal Centennial Community and instrumental in the Rizal monument project which is now the centerpiece of community events that are held in Cherry Hill. The monument proudly stands at a dedicated lot along Cooper River Park in Pennsauken, New Jersey and where the annual Philippine Fiesta is held every year to commemorate the Philippine Independence Day festivities.
