Our new president shared with us some of personal glimpses into her life:
My name is Nida N. Imperial of Camiling, Tarlac, Philippines and Bucks County, PA. I finished as a Graduate Nurse at University of Luzon in 1976 and pursued my BSN degree at Perpetual Help College in Manila. I immigrated to America with my husband Jay. We have five children and a dotting grandma for little Jayla, our only granddaughter.
I worked as a Rehab Nurse and is now a Telemetry Nurse and also do Charge Nurse duties at the Albert Einstein Healthcare Network for 35 years.
I became actively involved in the Filipino-American community in 2005 when I was elected as Vice-President of the Filipino American Association of Bucks County, Inc. (FAABCI) and I became the President for seven years from 2008-2014.
I also joined the Philippine Nurses Association of America Pennsylvania (PNA-PA) in 2006 as vice president, and is now its current president . I have been with the FECGP for the last 8 years, two times as Auditor and is enjoying the VP position; having been voted twice under two presidents. As VP I learned a lot in leading and managing our Council. It is a great opportunity to serve our community!
Together with my nurses colleagues I became actively involved in PNAPA’s community services doing blood pressure screenings on major community events, joined the Tribute to the Philippines by the Consulate of New York in Ocean City for the last 3 years, and an active Volunteer at the Gift of Life House and so with the Comcast Day Care; an annual community event coordinated by NBC-Comcast of Philadelphia.
With all these involvement in the community and being a leader in the different organizations and experiences that I have; I am looking to be working with all of you and my executive board to implement our plans and objectives and see them into fruition.
I am humbled and honored and will do my best as your President:
- Will continue the project that was started by the last Administration, the Gift of Life and The Temple Health Aid to the Asian Community.
- Encourage the active participation of the Young Professionals and become officers in Council.
- Encourage more participation to the “Tribute to the Philippines” in Ocean City, NJ and the July 4th parade “Welcome America”.
- Make our FECGP more visible in mainstream events and seek funding for our projects and programs.
Maraming salamat po sa inyong lahat for your support!
